Free Tuition
Achieving debt-free education is a goal for many in the public. Tuition should be free because education is a human right, and anyone who is willing and able should be able to attend a university or college institution of higher education.
According to an article by Mike Konzcal in Dissent Magazine, Student debt has taken the place of public funding, and it is has become a slow-moving disaster. Student debt is not just some bill it actually can stick with you your whole life and can be a burden. Student debt has grown worse over years and it can delay purchasing a home, marriage and starting your own business. Research also shows that the burden of student debt reduces the public's choice of taking low paying jobs and they would rather take a high paying job to help with student debt.
Education is a right that society must grant. After all, most of today's jobs require some type of knowledge and the right skills. So a better-educated society would help fill many jobs that prevent British Columbia's economy from growing. According to an article on the Trade Schools website, A lot of these unfilled jobs that require an education could be filled and could increase the flow of money in today's economy. It would help the government as well with money being spent and tax revenues, which could also help cover free tuition. People would have the freedom to pursue the lives they want if they didn't have to start off in debt or stay in a low paying job. This could lead to a happier society. Also, students would focus more on their studies instead of worrying about paying for the upcoming term. Also not having to worry as much would take a lot of stress off their shoulders. More students would be able to finish their programs on time and continue to take maybe an important role in society.
Having free tuition would help people with low income and take away the burden of student debt and pursue their dreams. Education is a right to everyone who wishes to and is able to should get free tuition and this would help fill the many gaps we have in the economy here in British Columbia. Free education is a goal that should be pursued by the public so we could all be able to continue filling gaps in the economy and take more stress off the students that wish to get a higher education.
Nice Post! Education totally is a human right, it should be treated as so. The points from the trade school website are interesting. I don't often think of how many unfilled jobs there are in our province.
